Department Profile
The fast changing technological scenario poses to the Department a challenge of continuously updating its curriculum and faculty to be able to provide state-of-the-art education to the students. Changes, both major and subtle, have been made by the department , to be better prepared for tomorrow.
The Department of Information Technology , under School of Information Science and Technology (SIST) , has established in the year of 2000 with an objective of imparting upto date knowledge in the field of Information Technology.It has been very well equipped with highly commendable facilities and is effectively guided by a set of devoted and diligent staff members.
Computing Facility
The Department has modern laboratories to serve the teaching and research needs of the students and faculty of the Department. All faculty members,Ph.D.Scholors and students have sole access to a PC.
All systems are connected to the Departmental LAN. Internet connectivity is provided by a 2Mbps link leased from BSNL exclusively for the Department.

Academic Programmes
The Department currently offers the courses MCA (30 students per year),MSc computer science(30 students per year) and Ph.D. Research works are going on in this department , majorly in the areas of Artificial Intelligence,Bio-Informatics and Speech and Image Processing.. The courses offered in this department meet the requirements of both industry and research. The curriculum is designed to train the students in developing application programs and to meet present technical world's requirement.
The Syllabus
The Syllabus offered is intended to face the global competetion in the IT Industry.In the acadamic year 2006 onwards, Credit Semester System of curriculum has been introduced. It gives freedom to the students to choose their subjects of interest and to do more courses if he/she wishes to have more credits to their advantage over students undergoing conventional courses.
The constant endeavor to tune in to the demands of the ever-changing IT industry and maintain high academic standards has earned the Department its reputation as one of the best Departments in the field of Information Technology.
